Students on a 504 plan often are over-looked by schools. Not demonstrating an obvious need for support, sometimes they just feel left out or told to "just try harder".  Frequently, a 504 plan doesn't even cover anything academic; for instance, a student may need step stools present to reach high shelves. Students on a 504 plan are the ones who really soar and show everyone just what they can do.​
